2 Seasons | 12 Episodes
Every now and then you stumble upon a beautiful masterpiece, and this one happens to be talking directly to you. Birthed from a 10-minute one-woman show of the same name, this series is an addicting and unpredictable journey filled with inside jokes that you just happen to be in on.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge is the mastermind behind this incredible 2-season, 12-episode journey. You may know her work in Killing Eve or Crashing, and in this chronicle in the life of ‘Fleabag’ is just as exciting and startling at the same time.
While venturing through London each episode tackles the everyday struggles in love, relationships, heartbreak, anger, sadness and loss. In the first episode you meet Fleabag, her sister Claire, who is opposite in every possible way, and her best friend Boo, whom she opened a guinea pig cafe with. The whole cast of characters seemed to be born for their roles and work together so well they make you erupt into hysterical laughter in every scene.
One thing they highlight in the show is that our lives are based purely on the relationships we find and choose to keep. They are what drives us forward or keep us back in life, and whoever you are, you can relate to the ups and downs of passionate love weather that be with friends, sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, death and loss, and even religion. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from it, it’s that “Love is awful. It’s painful. It’s frightening. It makes you doubt yourself, judge yourself, distance yourself from the other people in your life.”

Never has a comedy forced so many to be so introspective and laugh so much til tears of sadness burn at the cheeks. You can feel the raw emotions of anger, pure love, frustration and heartbreak and it feels as if you’re going through it all with Fleabag herself. If you haven’t heard of Phoebe Waller-Bridge already, she’s one worth noting as you’ll see her name in all good things to come.
looks into camera…
Phoebe, thank you for your incredible storytelling and humour. I’ve never wanted to hug and laugh and cry with someone on screen so much. I would love another season purely for selfish reasons, but it was the perfect ending we all needed.
You can watch it on Amazon in the US or on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
